Types Of Media

Digital and traditional media are available in the UAE. Social media is widely used, in addition to print and audiovisual media. dssd

Media regulation

The Internet Access Management Regulatory Policy consists of certain frameworks and categories in regards to the internet, which must be taken into consideration by internet service providers to ensure the security of the internet and protect end-users from harmful websites containing materials that are contrary to religious and ethical values of the UAE. Media Regulatory Office (MRO) manages and regulates media activities and media-related free zones in the UAE. Federal Decree Law No. 34 of 2021 on Combatting Rumors and Cybercrimes aims to protect the society and government websites and data from information technology crimes and combat rumors and fraud through electronic communication.

Media facilities and events

The UAE Government Media Office (GMO) oversees the UAE media strategy, proposes and prepares media policies, legislation, directions and strategies, and unifies the media discourse and media messages of the UAE government locally and internationally. Emirates News Agency (WAM) is the official state news service of the UAE. The UAE’s local media cities aim to encourage international, regional and local entrepreneurs to set up offices and contribute to creating the best art they can in the form of audio, visual, print and digital. UAE holds annual media events, such as: Emirati Media Forum, Arab Media Forum and International Government Communication Forum (IGCF).

New Media Academy

The New Media Academy aims to train media professionals in the public and private sector and develop social media content creators. It also aims to improve career prospects of the youth and enable them to lead as digital citizens in the new economy.
