Innovation award for U-Ask
U-Ask, a unified AI-powered chatbot for the UAE’s government services, won Gartner Eye on Innovation Awards for Governments 2023.
This recognition signifies that U-Ask is the leading digital innovation by a federal government across the world. It utilises generative artificial intelligence to answer queries regarding the UAE government’s services for citizens, residents, workers, students, visitors and investors.
This achievement crowns the efforts of the UAE Digital Government to harness generative AI to provide proactive digital services on its official portal, U.ae. It also reflects a collaborative effort among government entities, aligned with the UAE’s vision of achieving a 100 per cent digital government.
The Eye on Innovation Awards for Governments recognise governmental initiatives that make innovative use of data and emerging technologies to advance tangibly their digital government ambitions at the local, regional and federal level.

Domain name ideas using AI
Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) adopted ChatGPT to recommend .ae website domain names to owners of SMEs. Under the initiative, ‘Name Ideas’, entrepreneurs can submit a description of the commercial activity for which they want to find a local domain name. Then, ChatGPT analyses the information provided and provides a list of proposed domain names based on the AI algorithms. Names are provided as per availability and suitability. They are proposed in Arabic and English.
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) announced that it is working to engage ChatGPT to enrich its services. This will ensure providing integrated and advanced services that enhance productivity and meet current and future needs. DEWA is the first utility globally and the first UAE government entity to use ChatGPT.

The Dubai AI platform
The Dubai.AI platform is a comprehensive and interactive source of information about the city, continuously populated with data from official sources. It acts as a personal digital assistant for users, designed using generative AI to answer their queries in real-time.
The new platform is currently accessible from the official website of the emirate of Dubai and the DubaiNow app. It is a collaboration between Digital Dubai and the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence.
The Dubai.AI platform is open to users of all categories, enabling them to enquire and seek information about all matters related to Dubai.
