Use of IoT in the health sector
Emirates Health Services (EHS) uses Internet of Things (IoT) through its intelligence platform ‘EHS intelligence’ to collect health data from various internet-enabled smart devices. These include devices measuring blood pressure, diabetes indicators, heart rate, blood oxygen levels, movement rates and physical activities.
The invaluable data collected by these devices is stored securely in the patient’s health file, forming an extensive and secure medical database for every individual. Doctors can access and review a patient’s health condition remotely. It helps doctors to identify correlations between the data and clinical parameters to predict clinical outcomes using intelligent algorithms built by EHS. The ability to store historical readings and visualise them provides crucial insights into the patient's health trajectory, facilitating more informed decisions and interventions.
