The National Human Rights Institution is an independent legal entity that enjoys a financial and administrative autonomy in the exercise of its functions, activities, and competencies for the promotion and protection of human rights; as per the Federal Law No. 12 of 2021 (PDF, 1 MB) which was issued by the late His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and in accordance with the Paris Principles for the National Human Rights Institutions that were adopted in 1993.
