The UAE in ‘Future Possibilities Index’- 2024
The ‘Future Possibilities Index’ - FPI 2024 evaluated the potential of countries to harness global transformations for future development across key sectors. It focused on six transformational trends and a country's readiness and capacity to leverage them. The six global trends are:
- Exabyte economy: tech surge
- Wellbeing economy
- Net zero economy
- Circular economy
- BioGrowth economy
- Experience economy: beyond the tangible.
It focused on the following three key areas of readiness:
- government strategy and policy
- industry strength
- core capacity.
The index covers 70 countries, which account for more than 90 per cent of the global GDP.
In the first edition of the FPI report – 2024, the UAE was ranked first in the Arab world, and first globally in 20 FPI indicators, including:
- government’s responsiveness to change
- development of future policies
- launching proactive government initiatives
- attractiveness and stability of global talent
- number of competitive working-age talent
- future digital software developers
- number of international tertiary education students
- size of the UAE market with its consumer spending potential
- ICT connectivity
- mobile broadband subscriptions and speed
- number of internet users.
