Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi is the largest emirate in the UAE, occupying 84 per cent of the national landmass territory. It has 200 islands and a long coastline stretching 700km. Its total area is 67,340 sq. km. In 2023, Abu Dhabi's population was 3.8 million, and the emirate's GDP was USD 310 billion. Abu Dhabi city in the emirate is the federal capital of the UAE.

Dubai

Dubai is the second largest emirate. Its current population is estimated to be 37,59,864. Dubai's GDP reached around AED 115 billion during the first quarter of 2024.

Sharjah

Sharjah is the third largest emirate. Its population was 1.8 million in 2022. Its GDP reached AED 145.2 billion in 2023.

Ajman

Ajman is the smallest of the seven emirates. Its population was 504,846 in 2017. In 2023, its GDP at current prices exceeded AED 36 billion.

Umm Al Quwain

Umm Al Quwain is the second smallest and the least populated emirate. Its population was 49,159 as of 2005. Fishing is a key contributor to its economy.

Ras Al Khaimah

Ras Al Khaimah is the fourth-largest emirate. It is estimated to have a total population of 345,000. The emirate has a diverse economy, with no single sector contributing more than 30% to overall GDP.

Fujairah

Fujairah is the only emirate that is located completely on the eastern coast of the UAE. Its population was 202,667 as of 2014. Its economy is based on fishing and agriculture.
